NIST AI RMF
Also known as: NIST AI Risk Management Framework, AI RMF 1.0
The U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology's voluntary AI risk-management framework, published January 2023. Organises AI risk under four functions: Govern, Map, Measure, Manage.
How this publication uses it
Voluntary, but widely adopted as a procurement baseline. Enterprise contracts increasingly cite the four functions as deliverables. The 2024 Generative AI Profile (NIST AI 600-1) extends the framework to the genAI risk surface — including prompt injection, hallucination, and content provenance.
